Principal's Message
Mr. AlexanderWest Avenue Elementary
From the Desk of Mr. Alexander..December/January

I am committed to building relationships and partnering with our students, staff and parents. I believe that every child should be valued and challenged to reach their full potential. My focus is always on student learning, and I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

West Avenue is a spirited school where students, parents, and community where we labor together to develop student success through a rich and integrated curriculum.

As students move through their academic years, they must believe in themselves, build on knowledge, and attain social skills in order to become successful in their endeavors. My belief is that students come dome first and every student can succeed.

At West Avenue, our desire is to develop leaders who have a positive mindset and are ready for a challenge. We are off to a great start and we can't wait to continue growing with your children.

I am grateful to be a part of this learning environment where the combination of enthusiastic students, committed staff, and dedicated parents ensure that all students reach their maximum potential and become lifelong learners. I am here to support the students, teachers, staff, and school community.

Please feel free to contact me anytime.

One critical component of individual student and school-wide success is effective school to home communication. Dear Parents/Guardians:

Thank you for a great beginning of the 2016-2017 school year. We started the school year with 370 students in PreK-5th grades. Our students are off and running! They are having a great time learning and have already learned a lot of new information. Please remember to encourage your child(ren) to read a minimum of 30 minutes a day or even better read with your child(ren) on a daily basis. We will begin this week with hand delivering new car signs for grades K-5th grades. Your students will be coming home with (2) car signs. You must have your car sign in your front car dash window every day. If another person or family member comes to pick up your chil(ren) for you they must have a car sign.  For the safety of your child(ren), if you do not have your car sign beginning on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, you will have to drive around and sign your child(ren) out from the front office.
